Managing All the Things of 2020
We can all probably agree that 2020 has been a roller coaster of a year. With so many major news headlines, civil unrest, COVID-19, and an election year, there has been a lot to sort through. Now with 2020 winding down maybe, we can take a little time to reflect on what's been taking up space in our heads thus far and ways we have been managing all of the things 2020 has bestowed upon us. While we share how we have been dealing with 2020, we look forward to hearing your tips and tricks on how you have moved through all 2020 challenges.
First, we would like to say that while 2020 has brought many challenges, it has brought many good things. Many of us probably have not had time to slow down in our adult lives. However, the year 2020 has seen that we all take a pause and take inventory of our lives, meaning some of us have had more time to spend with loved ones or even take more quiet time to spend with ourselves. 2020 seemed to have sparked ingenuity in many of us; we all had to figure out new ways of doing routine tasks that we were accustomed to and just took for granted. This year may have also made us take stock of our spiritual lives and reset or adjust the things in our lives that were not creating a healthy mindset.
This year has also garnered and created a perfect storm of conditions that have many feeling stressed, anxious, or maybe even depressed at times. With so many things we have had to manage and juggle, we wanted to share the practices that have kept us sane so far. Although we are not health professionals, we wanted to share what has worked for us from our perspective. (Just a little side note.) Nothing that we are stating are new ideas, but sometimes getting back to the basics may be just what the doctor orders.
Keeping in touch with loved ones - So many have been struggling with isolation during this era of COVID-19. So it's so essential to maintain and build connections with family and friends.
Talk about what's affecting you - With a 24-hour news cycle, much contend for the space in our heads. Managing the intake of information and finding a balance for staying informed while keeping a sense of peace is essential.
Exercise and a healthy diet - Now, this is a struggle. Sometimes it is so hard to get motivated to take care of ourselves in this way. Still, these changes can give you the energy and mental clarity that is needed.
Having a prayer life - The last point here is the most critical strategy personally for us. Setting aside time to ask for wisdom, guidance, and strength is vital for keeping things together. For us, knowing that we can cast our cares in prayers has been the reprieve that we have needed daily.
We hope these four tips can be helpful and some encouragement to get us all through the rest of 2020. We also wanted to know the strategies you have been implementing that have helped you all manage all of the things that 2020 has presented.
